Artist's Statement

Making art since the age of six and started to exhibit at the age of 42 …is the story of my artistic pursuit. Art has been a part of my life in one form or the other. After my post graduation in English literature, I professionally qualified to be a fashion designer from India's premier fashion institute NIFT in New Delhi.

I enjoy the exploration of art through time, space and solitude of my working. Different mediums of art fascinate me and then its transformation to my vision is a personal creative challenge. As an artist I work in variety of mediums like acrylic, oil pastels, oil sticks, pastels, water colors, charcoals, varnishes, clay, fiber glass and finishing with surface techniques.

Literature, art and business of fashion interplay is my creative domain, leading to their respective destinations with creativity being the baseline for all.

Poetry writing which was always my personal expression found its meaning, when painting became an expression for me to communicate with the viewers. Being an English literature student, the words fell in meters and verses.

Some of my paintings and poetry were accepted by Woman Made Gallery in Chicago for documentation purpose for the 2004 exhibition "Women, Trauma and Visual Expressions." Consequently, verbal and visual language is an interdisplinary means of expression that brings connectivity between me as an artist and the viewer in the gallery.
